When you’re working out, you want to be comfortable. Bras that dig in and leggings that fail the squat test are an absolute no-no. As well as making comfort a priority, you might prefer to buy your activewear from brands that care about the environment. To help you in your quest for the perfect summer workout gear, the KBPT team has put together a few suggestions.
Deakin & Blue
If swimming is your go-to exercise, check out Deakin & Blue. Founded by KBPT client Rosie Cook, the D&B collection is available in sizes 8-20 and AA-HH cups. All the swimwear is made from ECONYL® (a 100% regenerated nylon fibre made from old fishing nets, industrial plastic and other waste) plus D&B’s packaging is recyclable. So you’ll not only feel great as you do your lengths at the lido, you’ll also know you’ve supported an ethical British brand and a member of the KBPT community! Get yourself 15% off by using adding the code: KBPT at the checkout.
Finisterre
From its home in Cornwall, Finisterre makes stylish leggings and outer tops from recycled fabric. Having started out as a surf brand, its swimwear and wetsuits are a great option for paddleboarders, swimmers and surfers, and the company has even teamed up with Palladium to produce a range of recycled hiking boots. As the company’s founder Tom Kay says, “… from our clifftop workshop, we stay true to our original design ethos of functionality and sustainability…”
Girlfriend Collective
Being eco-friendly is also a priority for Girlfriend Collective, which turns plastic bottles, fishing nets and other waste into bras, leggings and shorts. Its high-rise leggings come in a range of colourways and you can even get them with double side pockets (ideal for your phone when you’re out running). With Stylist magazine calling Girlfriend Collective’s kit “badass”, surely it’s time to give it a go this summer?
Lululemon
Hiking, tennis, running, swimming, yoga… whatever you’re into, Lululemon has the gear for you. We love the Align and Wunder Under collections, in particular. Describing itself as “a mindful movement that believes if we push past our sweaty boundaries, we’re able to build the strength to push ourselves in other aspects of life”, Lululemon partners with charities around the world as part of its social impact programme and monitors the company’s sustainable practices through its Impact Agenda.
SOS Activewear
Bronte Simm founded SOS from her flat in South London in 2018. It’s already a favourite in the fitness community with customers commenting how beautifully made and comfortable the clothing is. As Bronte says, “By creating sustainable, reliable and functional activewear without cutting any corners, I hope to offer an alternative to fast gym-wear brands whilst maintaining premium quality, durability and style.”
