For Rosie, 36, joining KBPT back in 2016 was a way to build a fitness routine that fit her busy lifestyle in and around Stoke Newington, providing her with the motivation to stay strong and healthy. With her trainer Kate’s support, she’s been able to maintain a flexible, effective workout plan through major life events, including getting married and having two children. Rosie has found that her sessions not only keep her fit but also keep her energised and confident for all that life brings.
How did you get started with KBPT?
I started training with KBPT in 2016, right when I’d started working from home. I knew I wanted to make sure I was staying active, so I thought a weekly workout with a personal trainer would help keep me disciplined. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I made!
What were your goals when you first started?
Honestly, I just wanted to feel fit, strong, and healthy. I was also getting married in 2017, and I wanted to feel like the best version of myself on the day. It wasn’t about losing weight for me; it was about feeling good in my body.
Have your goals changed over the years?
The main goal of feeling good and keeping a solid level of fitness is still there, but how we’ve worked towards it has shifted depending on where I am in life. Since I started with Kate, I’ve had two kids, so we adapted the workouts based on what my body needed at different stages. Coming back to fitness and strength after having kids has been amazing. Now, I’m able to keep up with my kids—running around in the park, cycling them to school, and racing them up the stairs. Kate’s even helped me train for 10Ks and half-marathons with personalised plans for training and nutrition, which has been fantastic.
How does training with KBPT make you feel?
It’s like a full reset for my mind and body every week. The sessions are challenging, and I usually feel it the next day, but I love that! It’s so satisfying to know that every muscle’s had a good workout. Mentally, I leave each session feeling recharged and ready to take on the week.
What’s special to you about training with an all-female team?
There’s a different kind of comfort working with an all-female team—it feels super supportive and judgment-free. Whether I’m talking about things like my body post-breastfeeding or powering through burpees on my period, I don’t feel self-conscious at all. I can just be myself, and that’s made a big difference in how much I enjoy working out.
How has personal training with KBPT impacted your daily life?
It’s made me so much more aware of my body and how I use it. I can hear Kate’s voice reminding me to walk up escalators or to bend my knees when lifting something heavy. It’s given me a more active mindset in daily life. I’m still human, of course—I love my food and enjoy a glass of wine! But the consistency of a weekly session with KBPT helps keep me on track overall.
What’s something unexpected you’ve gained from training with KBPT?
The best surprise has been the friendship I’ve built with Kate. Over the last eight years, we’ve spent so many hours chatting about everything—life, family, running businesses, relationships, you name it. I really look forward to my sessions with her every week.
