When the schools go back, it gets us thinking about books. Whilst we like to relax by doing yoga or listening to a podcast, we also love reading – especially books that inspire and motivate us. So, we asked some of our KBPT trainers for their autumn recommendations…
Kate’s recommendation: Good Vibes, Good Life by Vex King
Instagram sensation @vexking provides inspirational messages to help you think positively, love yourself and unlock your greatness. With more than one million copies sold worldwide, this was the #1 Sunday Times bestselling non-fiction book of 2021. Kate says that it’s “easy to read and a good reminder of what’s important.”
Hannah’s recommendation: Roar by Dr Stacy T. Sims
In this book, Stanford-based exercise physiologist and nutrition scientist Dr Sims explains how to match your food and fitness to your unique female physiology for optimum performance, great health and a strong, lean body for life. Whether you’re new to exercise or a seasoned athlete, Roar can help you.
Ilka’s recommendation: Pilates’ Return to Life Through Contrology by Lin Van Heuit-Robbens
If you’ve ever been to a pilates class, you’ll know that this form of exercise focuses on balance, posture, strength and flexibility. But did you know that it was named after the trainer who developed it (Joseph Pilates)? This book covers the evolution of pilates in the 21st Century, the basic fundamentals and the main exercises. Having recently qualified as a pilates instructor, it was an important read for Ilka.
Donna’s recommendation: How to Sleep Well by Dr Neil Stanley
As the inside cover says, “Sleep affects everything; your work or school performance, relationships, emotional wellbeing, appearance and even your health. So how can we change our sleep to help us live our lives more fully?” Drawing on Dr Stanley’s 30+ years of experience in sleep medicine, this book will help you to take control of your sleep – from tonight!
Isla’s recommendation: The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
This guide to spiritual enlightenment invites you to leave your analytical mind and ego behind so that you can enter a state of inner peace. The core message is that most of us are fixated on the past or future when, in fact, we should surrender to the present (the ‘now’). The Power of Now has received more than 140,000 five-star reviews on Goodreads.
