Chia seed water

We could rave about the benefits of chia seeds all day! They are a superfood filled with antioxidants, minerals, fibre, and omega-3 fatty acids!

 

But have you tried chia seed water? It’s sometimes referred to as an ‘internal shower’ due to its ability to ‘clean out’ your digestive system and went viral on TikTok due to how it can help with digestive issues as a gut-healing drink.

 

Ingredients

 

1-2 tbsps / 12-24g Chia Seeds

 

1cup / 237ml Water

 

Method

 

Step 1: Mix the chia seeds into the water.

 

Step 2: Give the seeds a light stir and let them sit for up to 2 mins. The chia seeds will begin to absorb water and turn the water into gel fairly quickly after that, so don’t let them sit too long unless you don’t mind drinking a firmer gel. You might also choose to mix your seeds in and drink your chia seed water right away, rather than letting them sit.

 

Step 3: If you want to add flavour to your chia seed water, you could add a squeeze or two of lemon or lime juice.

 

If you’ve never had chia water before, or don’t otherwise consume chia seeds, you may want to start with a smaller amount in your water at first and build up your tolerance.
