Ingredients
1 ripe banana, peeled and frozen
1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any milk of your choice)
1 tbsp dark brown sugar/molasses
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1 tbsp chia seeds (optional)
1 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional, for added sweetness)
Ice cubes (optional)
Method
Step 1: In a blender, combine the frozen banana, almond milk, molasses, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg.
Step 2: Blend until smooth and creamy. If the smoothie is too thick, you can add a bit more almond milk to reach your desired consistency.
Step 3: If using, add chia seeds for added fibre and omega-3 fatty acids. Blend for a few more seconds to combine.
Step 4: Taste the smoothie and add honey or maple syrup if you prefer a sweeter taste.
Step 5: If you like your smoothie colder, you can add a handful of ice cubes and blend again until smooth.
Step 6: Pour the gingerbread smoothie into a glass, garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top, and enjoy the festive flavors of the season.
