How to start clean eating.

Rethink that drink

Ok so you might not want to do dry January but after all the drinking Christmas involves this month is a good time to cut back and rethink that drink. Some easy ways to help you avoid giving in are pre-planning activities with friends and family that don’t involve drinking. Enjoy sparkling water whilst at a social event or be a designated driver. Plan and book exercise classes on Saturday or Sunday mornings.

Cook at home

We all love a delicious meal out but this month try to cook more at home. Home-cooked meals are the healthiest way you can feed your body as you know what ingredients you are eating. Cooking with a partner or friend can also be fun so if you are close to ordering take away call a friend to come over and make a night of it. Make sure you cook a big batch so you can also enjoy your flavoursome meals throughout the week. Winner winner.

Make snacks to bring on the go

There is nothing worse than when you are on the go and feeling peckish. When this happens we all end up buying something naughty most of the time so instead prepare healthy snacks at home that you can keep at your desk or in a bag. Easy snacks to make include granola bars ( great as they can be in a big batch), carrots and hummus or pita bread, banana bread the list goes on.

Up your H20

We should be drinking between 2-3 litres of water a day but it can be hard to keep track of our intake. Drinking water is the best thing we can do to keep our bodies healthy and functioning properly. Upping our H2O intake also flushes out excess sodium which can help you de-bloat. If you love your carbs then drinking more water can effectively help you feel lighter and more energetic.

Have a good breakfast

It’s true what they say, breakfast is the most important meal of the day so let us make it a good one. It’s so easy to cook up a healthy breakfast and mix it up each day to keep things interesting. Granola and yoghurt are always a favourite and is packed with all the good stuff to help you start your day off right. Smoothies are also a great breakfast to include in your diet as you can switch up the ingredients each time. If you prefer a more carb-based meal try wholegrain toast with avocado.
