Is the gym not for you? It also wasn’t for one of our KBPT clients, Preethi. She started looking for an alternative route to fitness, finding the perfect ‘buddy’ in our trainer, Sammie and hasn’t looked back. Find out about her journey with us and how having a personal trainer benefitted her health and wellbeing.
Hi everyone, I’m Preethi. I’m 45 working as Product Director at Spotify and I live in Dalston.
Hi Preethi, it’s great to meet you. We’ve been hearing how you found the perfect match with our KBPT trainer Sammie – tell us more about how you teamed up with her through KBPT.
I was looking for an alternative to the gym in my East London area and came across KBPT through a Google search. Getting a personal trainer was great motivation for me, and it meant I was less likely to skip a workout if I had a regular arranged time to meet someone.
The flexibility KBPT offered was great, I love the fact my trainer comes to me. Sammie brings any equipment we need for each session, so all I need to do is bring myself! I also loved the fact KBPT is an all-female company and wanted to support that as well.
Big up the girl gang! We love helping empower women look and feel great through health and wellbeing. How long have you been training with KBPT now?
I’ve been training for over 18 months, and at the start of this year I increased my sessions to twice a week because I wanted to focus on fitness during the winter ready for a summer that feels more like pre-pandemic days! I’ve really noticed the results of moving to twice weekly workouts and I’m determined to keep them up ready for the warmer weather!
Bring on the summertime, feeling healthy is a great confidence boost for us all. What was your first training goal when you started with us?
I’d already lost a lot of weight two years ago, so I wanted to increase my general fitness and strength to match it. My KBPT trainer Sammie introduced me to weight training to help build up my upper body strength and it’s definitely been a game changer; my fitness is now at a level I haven’t been at for years!
Weight training is a great way to boost fitness to the next level. What is next for you on your fitness journey?
I’ve kept off all the weight I originally lost and I’m comfortable with where I’m at right now. I train at home or (if the weather is dry!) on my roof terrace. I also have a gym in the building where I live which we sometimes use.
I love me sessions with my trainer Sammie, she’s really creative at coming up with new ways to push me and having a tailormade programme means I can train without worrying about injury as my positioning and form is being checked. I find myself looking forward to my sessions as they give me a proper mental break from work, and I know I will stick to them as I don’t want to let myself or my trainer down.
You sound like you’re in a great place with your health and fitness. Do your future fitness goals have you coming back for more?
I’ve never been a fan of the gym format. It feels like too much pressure is on you to keep up with the Jones’s and it can sometimes feel intimidating. I enjoy hanging out with Sammie so I will just keep going with what makes me happy! In terms of future fitness goals, I’ll keep increasing my strength and muscle conditioning and stay consistent with my weight.
That all sounds great Preethi, we’re so pleased you’ve found your perfect ‘fitness buddy’ in Sammie! Here’s to and summer fun and continuing your fitness regime throughout 2023!
