There is no greater reward for us than to understand the fitness goals of the clients we work with and for them to successfully achieve them. Find out about Shyema’s experience of working with us and what she gained from her personal fitness journey.
Hi, I’m Shyema and I’m 51 years old. I live in east London and work as a lawyer for the BBC as well as being a Mum to 4 children!
Thanks so much for taking the time to speak to us Shyema, it sounds like you’re one busy lady! Tell us how you first came across KBPT?
I was looking for a female trainer in the Hackney area, so I searched online and found KBPT. I specifically wanted someone to come to my house because I have such a busy schedule and KBPT sounded like it would work perfectly around me.
That’s great to hear, we really believe it’s important to be flexible with our clients’ needs. How did your first session with us go?
I clicked straight away with my trainer, Donna. She is really positive and keeps me focused on my goals. I wasn’t sure how I would feel when I first started doing the sessions, so I started off doing a trial of one session a week. Very quickly, I found I was looking forward to each session, so I increased them to twice a week. Doing this really helped me achieve even better results and now I’ve been training with KBPT 6 months. The time has flown!
We love that you love fitness. What is it about KBPT that keeps you coming back for more?
I’ve always steered away from exercise because I find it tricky to fit in around my busy schedule. Since I began hybrid working and working from home, it’s been easier to fit in a session during the working day. KBPT have been able to adapt to my schedule, tweaking time slots to make sure I can fit in regular sessions. Having home training is a massive help too because it means I don’t have to factor in travelling time. KBPT are really flexible and understanding, which means I can change my session times if I have a meeting booked. It’s enabled me to stay on track with my training and meet my goals.
What were your initial goals when you first came to us?
I wanted to lose weight, get stronger & increase mobility, I really wanted to get strong for the menopause. I’m really pleased with the results I’ve achieved with my PT sessions; I’ve lost weight and gone down a size in my trousers. Now, my goals have changed. I’m less focussed on weight loss, and more on getting stronger, this has come about from seeing the huge improvements in my form, range of motion and progression.
It sounds like you and Donna have a great relationship. How has having her as your PT helped you?
Donna has been a great support in my fitness journey. She got me into a rhythm with exercise, which means for the first time in a long time, I’ve been consistent. Having your own Personal Trainer makes you feel you are accountable to someone and that really works for me. Donna is down-to-earth and funny; she makes exercise fun and I look forward to seeing her each session as well as getting my fitness hit. She’s also very nurturing in her approach yet realistic in the goals we set. This all helps keep me on track.
We can’t wait to tell Donna all these lovely comments. What’s next for you Shyema?
I’m really excited to continue my journey with strength training. I’ve always been really intimidated by the thought of weights but with KBPT I feel confident to lift heavier because I know I am being guided by my PT. Watch this space!
Oh, we will! It’s been great to hear all about your KBPT journey! Keep smashing it Shyema!
