The summer has finally arrived and walking is a fantastic way to enjoy the fresh summer air and explore what is your doorsteps.
Walking for 30 minutes a day is a great way to improve and maintain health. Whilst increasing muscle strength and endurance, other key benefits include increased heart and lung (cardiovascular and pulmonary) fitness, stronger bones, improved balance and it reduces body fat.
Not only that, it improves the management of conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, joint and muscular pain and diabetes. It also reduces the risk of heart disease and stroke.
With so many good reasons (plus the fantastic weather) what are you waiting for! We’d also recommend downloading some of your favourite music, a podcast or audio book to listen to too.
If you can’t manage 30 minutes a day, just remember even a little is good for you.
