Yoga is a simple form of exercise and the best thing about it, it can be done anywhere all you need is a yoga mat or failing that you can use flat ground.
- Â Improves you flexibility – lots of people these days have desk jobs which can cause tight hips, tight lower back and rounded shoulders. Yoga can help stretch this out and balance out the negatives of 8 hours a day at a desk. If you exercise frequently it is also great to stretch out the muscles. Overall your posture and body alignment will improve significantly because of the improvement in your flexibility.
- Reduces stress levels – stress and aniety are everywhere. Yoga is great to do as an hour for you, focusing on your breathing and moving in and out of poses stops you thinking about anything else for an hour. Yoga is great to add to your weekly exercise schedule for mindfulness and relaxation.
- Increase strength – holding yoga poses will help build strength in your muscles – yoga works the whole body so will strengthen your core, arms and legs. Doing strength training alongside yoga will help you get even more out of the classes, the two really go hand in hand.
- KBPT has a weekly yoga class at their studio in Hackney at 5pm on Sundays. It is only £5 and 10% if that goes to KBPT charity partner St Joseph Hospice. Please email Kate for more details kate@kbpersonaltraining.co.uk
