Holidays, festivals, BBQ’s, picnics, summer is here and it’s a really fun season. With all this happening, sometimes it can be hard trying to stick to your normal fitness routine.
KBPT’s founder, Kate gave us some of her top tips for trying to keep active when she’s out of her normal routine:
I love walking – and you can do it anywhere! So, when on holiday make an effort to do extra steps, go explore the cultural sites. Walk to or from the BBQ or picnic you’ve been invited to. At festivals you walk a lot anyway (not to mention the dancing!) – I think I walked a marathon a day at Glastonbury!!
Pack a pair of goggles in your suitcase – if you are going on holiday you can swim in the pool or the sea and get some lengths in as well as floating around on your Lilo with a cocktail in hand!
Pop a couple of resistance bands into your luggage – when going on holiday. They are great to add into a bodyweight workout in your hotel room or resort gym, plus they’re light and pack easily into your bag. You can even use them to stretch when doing yoga too. I love multi-use equipment!
Make some of your catch up’s active. Summer is a great reason to meet up with friend’s we don’t see from one year to the next. Instead of always going for a drink, try going for a walk or meet for a yoga class and healthy juice afterwards! Win, Win!
Get active – add a game of rounders to your picnic to help digest all those yummy crisps and dips and get some laughs along the way. Why not check out last month’s blog on our page Rounders: A Fun and Sociable Workout to refresh yourself on the rules.
Check out the activities available at your holiday destination – is there SUPing, surfing, coasteering you could sign up to? Make the most of being in amazing locations and get the adrenaline pumping too for an extra endorphin hit!
Do a pre-recorded online class on holiday. We have loads of pre-recorded workouts on our socials so you can choose one to suit your mood. Keeping it simple and easy is key to staying in the holiday mood!
And if all else fails get a PT – we will keep you on track weekly with a PT session and help you with what to do outside the session. This can be done virtually and wherever you are, you can tap into their motivational enthusiasm to get you going again!
