What is International Women’s Day? 

International Women’s Day (IWD) takes place every year on March 8th to celebrate women’s achievements and push for gender equality. It’s a day to recognise progress, challenge bias, and support a world where women have equal opportunities—in careers, education, sports, and beyond.

IWD has been celebrated since the early 1900s, growing into a global movement. Each year highlights a different theme, but the message stays the same: empower women, break barriers, and keep moving forward.

 

Why International Women’s Day Matters

IWD reminds us how far we’ve come—but also how much work there is still to do. Women still face challenges in many areas of life, including fitness. From fighting for equal representation in sports to creating safe, supportive training environments, we all have a role to play in making fitness inclusive.
